Eve was born to Trevor Eve (actor) and Sharon Maughan, a writer. Her family was split between Los Angeles, California, and in the United Kingdom. She attended Bedales School, and took A-levels at the London's Westminster School. She was a student of English in St Catherine's College Oxford during the gap year. The student actress was in productions of An Ideal Husband Animal Crackers, Scenes from an Execution (which was staged to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), as well as The Colour of Justice while in Oxford. Eve was a part of BBC dramas like The Rotters Club Poirot & Hawking as well as the 2004 film Stage Beauty. Her younger brother Guyan Mitra, is a renowned travel writer whose work was featured on Lonely Planet as well as The Sunday Times.
